THE PAPER GIVES A BRIEF INTRODUCTION TO THE FAMILY OF POLY-URETHANE/POLYISOCYANATE-BASED INSULATION PRODUCTS, ITEMISING THEIR MAIN USES AND DESCRIBING HOW SUCH A WIDE RANGE AS FROM ENGINEERING PLASTICS TO STRETCH JEANS CAN BE PRODUCED USING DIFFERENT PRODUCTION TECHNIQUES. USES IN THERMAL INSULATION GRADES ARE THEN EXPLAINED FURTHER, AND INCLUDE ADVANTAGES COMPARED WITH OTHER INSULATION, SUCH AS REDUCED SURFACE AREA OF PIPE INSULATION AND MAINTENANCE OF HIGH INSULATING VALUE EVEN AFTER 20 YEARS UNDERGROUND BURIAL.
