POOL BOILING HEAT TRANSFER IN HFC134A, HFC152A AND THEIR MIXTURES.

Author(s) : SHI K., HAHNE E., GROSS U.

Summary

IN THE STUDY, NUCLEATE POOL BOILING HEAT TRANSFER IN R134A, R152A AND THEIR MIXTURES IS INVESTIGATED. THE HEAT TRANSFER MEASUREMENTS ARE PERFORMED ON A PLATINUM WIRE (D = 0.1 MILLIMETER) COVERING WIDE RANGES OF REDUCED PRESSURE FROM 0.05 TO 0.50 AND HEAT FLUX FROM 1,000 TO 150,000 WATTS/M2. COMPARING THE RESULTS OF PREVIOUS INVESTIGATIONS OF BOILING HEAT TRANSFER FROM TUBES WITH THE RESULTS OF THE PRESENT STUDY, IT CAN BE SEEN THAT THE EFFECTS OF PRESSURE AND HEAT FLUX ON THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS ARE THE SAME IN BOTH CASES. THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS ON THE WIRE ARE SCALED UP TO TUBES BY MEANS OF AN EMPIRICAL CORRELATION. THESE VALUES ARE FINALLY COMPARED WITH EXPERIMENTAL DATA FROM THE LITERATURE FOR POOL BOILING OF R12 ON TUBES. THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS FOR NUCLEATE BOILING OF R134A AND R152A, DETERMINED IN THIS MANNER, ARE ABOUT 32 AND 43% GREATER, RESPECTIVELY, THAN THOSE FOR R12.
