Summary

HEAT TRANSFER MEASUREMENTS WERE PERFORMED ON A PLATINUM WIRE (D = 0.1 MM) COVERING WIDE RANGES OF REDUCED PRESSURE AND HEAT FLUX. COMPARING THE RESULTS OF PREVIOUS INVESTIGATIONS OF BOILING HEAT TRANSFER FROM TUBES WITH THE RESULTS OF THE PRESENT STUDY, IT CAN BE SEEN THAT THE EFFECTS OF PRESSURE AND HEAT FLUX ON THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS ARE THE SAME IN BOTH CASES. THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS ON THE WIRE ARE SCALED UP TO TUBES BY MEANS OF AN EMPIRICAL CORRELATION. THESE VALUES ARE COMPARED WITH THE CORRELATION IN THE VDI-WARME-ATLAS FOR POOL BOILING OF R12 ON TUBES. THE HEAT TRANSFER COEFFICIENTS FOR NUCLEATE BOILING OF R134A AND R152A DETERMINED IN THIS MANNER ARE GREATER BY ABOUT 32 AND 43 %, RESPECTIVELY, THAN THOSE FOR R12.
