POSSIBILITIES FOR THE ENERGY SAVING OPERATION OF CENTRAL REFRIGERATING PLANT BY OPTIMIZATION OF CYCLE AND OPERATING CONDITIONS.

Author(s) : MULLER G., BOTHE A.

Summary

THE PLANT IS COMPOSED OF 4 WATER COOLERS WITH SCREW COMPRESSORS, FLOODED EVAPORATORS AND WATER-COOLED CONDENSERS. THE DISTRIBUTION OF REFRIGERATING CAPACITY BETWEEN THE FOUR UNITS MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO AUTOMATICALLY ADJUST LOAD CHANGES AND PREVENT THE DEVELOPMENT OF PARTIAL LOAD OPERATION, WHICH IS NOT ECONOMIC. THE AVERAGE CONDENSATION TEMPERATURE IS 304 K (31 DEG C) IN SUMMER. DUE TO THE DECREASE IN THE WATER TEMPERATURE TO 283 K (10 DEG C) IN WINTER, CONDENSATION TEMPERATURE IS ABOUT 293 K (20 DEG C). THE DRIVING POWER IS DECREASED AS COMPARED TO SUMMER OPERATION BY ABOUT 30%. THE INSTALLATION OF A LIQUID-VAPOUR EXCHANGER PREVENTS THE OPERATION OF A COMPRESSOR UNDER HUMID CONDITIONS WHEN THE CONDENSATION TEMPERATURE IS LOW. THE AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE COMPRESSION RATIO OF THE SCREW COMPRESSOR AND THE ACTUAL COMPRESSION RATIO IS ECONOMIC AND MAY BE OBTAINED BY A SLIDER DAMPER.
