Summary

SMALL REFRIGERATION UNITS UP TO 10 KILOW ARE COMMONLY PROVIDED WITH A DEFROST SYSTEM WITH ELECTRIC HEATERS. IN THIS ARTICLE A SIMPLE HOT GAS SYSTEM IS DESCRIBED WITH ONE MAGNETIC VALVE AND TUBE FOR APPLICATION IN A SMALL STRAIGHT-FORWARD INSTALLATION. THE EVAPORATOR NEEDS TO BE A DOWN FEED TYPE TO GUARANTEE WELL FUNCTIONING. THE ADVANTAGES OF THIS SYSTEM LIKE ENERGY SAVING, MORE EFFECTIVE DEFROSTING, LESS DISTURBANCE OF THE ROOM CONDITIONS ARE ILLUSTRATED WITH MEASUREMENTS AND CALCULATIONS.
