Summary

AN AIR DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM HAS BEEN DEVELOPED FOR LARGE OPEN CONTAINERS FOR TRANSPORT OF BULK PRODUCE DESTINED FOR THE PROCESSING INDUSTRY. THE AIR IS DISTRIBUTED EVENLY THROUGH THE PRODUCE BY MEANS OF A FLOOR RACK UNDER WHICH AMBIENT OR REFRIGERATED AIR IS BLOWN BY A FAN WHICH IS ATTACHED TO THE CONTAINER. HEATING AS A RESULT OF HEAT PRODUCTION OF THE PRODUCE COULD BE PREVENTED. TESTS WITH SPINACH AND SNAP BEANS SHOWED THAT THE TEMPERATURE OF THE PRODUCE COULD BE MAINTAINED AT A FEW DEGREES ABOVE THE AMBIENT TEMPERATURE.
