Summary

UNTIL NOW THE PREDICTION OF THE BEHAVIOUR OF OIL-REFRIGERANT MIXTURES HAS BEEN BASED MOSTLY ON THE METHOD OF JAEGER. THE RESULTS HAVE NOT BEEN ACCURATE, ESPECIALLY FOR MIXTURES FROM THE NEW REFRIGERANTS BASED ON PARTLY FLUORINATEDHYDROCARBONS AND SYNTHETIC-BASED REFRIGERATION OILS. AS AN EXAMPLE OF OTHER METHODS, THE CALCULATION OF THE THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES OF A TERNARY MIXTURE CONSISTING OF AN ALKYL BENZENE-BASED REFRIGERATION OIL WITH THE NON-AZEOTROPIC REFRIGERANT MIXTURE R22-R114 IS DEMONSTRATED. THE CALCULATION WAS DONE BY USING THE THEORY OF CORRESPONDING STATES, AND BY CALCULATING THE ACTIVITY COEFFICIENTS. BOTH WAYS OF CALCULATION SEEM TO BE ACCURATE ENOUGH ALSO FOR MIXTURES WITH A NONPURE CHEMICAL, LIKE A REFRIGERATION OIL.
