Summary

EXCISED EMBRYONIC AXES OF CAMELLIA SINENSIS COULD SUCCESS-FULLY BE CRYOPRESERVED AFTER DESICCATING THEM TO A MOISTURE CONTENT OF AROUND 13% AND LOWER. SURVIVAL AND GROWTH FOR 20-25 DAYS WERE ACHIEVED SIMPLY ON A FILTER PAPER MOISTENED WITH WATER. SURVIVAL BEYOND 25 DAYS AND ACCELERATED GROWTH OF EMBRYONIC AXES COULD BE OBTAINED BY CULTURING ON A NUTRIENT MEDIUM.
