Summary
An experiment was carried out at Vallanadu, India, to investigate the effect of modified atmosphere packaging on the shelf life of brinjal (Solanum melongena). The fruit was washed and put into polyethylene bags of 4 different gauges (100, 200, 300 and 400 g) and having 6 levels of ventilation 0, 0.5, 1.0 1.5, 2.0 and 2.5%), then held at ambient temperature. The control fruit was left unpacked. All the treatments were superior to the control in preventing weight loss during storage.
