Summary

In this study, the pressure drop’s characteristics during condensation were investigated in an experiment of R410A flowing inside three types of multi-port tubes. Two types of multiport minichannels have 8 channels with a 1.16 mm hydraulic diameter and 11 channels with 1.14 mm hydraulic diameter. The test sections were designed as a counter flow tube in a tube exchanger. The experiment is performed with mass fluxes of refrigerant between 50-400 kg/m2s, 3-12kW/m2 of heat fluxes, and saturation temperature of 48°C. The frictional pressure gradient increased with increasing of mass flux and vapor quality but insignificant effect on with heat flux. The experimental results are compared with some well-known correlations for frictional pressure gradient in mini and micro channels.
