Pressure losses in the suction filter in reciprocating compressor with CO2.

Number: pap. n. 59

Author(s) : RUMAN R., ŠUSTEK J., TOMLEIN P.

Summary

The paper deals with the analysis of pressure losses in the refrigerant flow of CO2 through the suction filter of a reciprocating compressor. In the article, a mathematical model of the flow with governing equations is described and CFD simulation of the flow through the suction filter is carried out. CFD simulation’s results are compared with experimental measurements of pressure losses in the suction filter. Experimental measurements cover different areas of the working envelopes of the compressor. On the basis of CFD simulations, geometric and structural modifications of the suction filter were designed to ensure reduction of pressure losses in the refrigerant flow.
