Summary

In this study, LNG application in a cold store was examined, and two processes based on the working condition of the intermediate refrigerant were proposed, i.e., the non-phase-change process and the phase-change process. A cold store with a total capacity of 3000 t was selected for the case study and the intermediate refrigerant was determined. The two different processes were simulated with HYSYS software. In addition, the advantages and disadvantages of the two processes were compared. The results show that the non-phase-change process is simple and can be controlled easily, but its refrigerant mass flow rate is much larger. For the phase-change process, the refrigerant mass flow rate is small while both the components and the controlling measures are more complex.
