Product quality control during climate-controlled storage and transport of potatoes, fruit and vegetables.

Summary

The use of product quality evolution models in climate control is a means of meeting the increased demand for quality. These models describe the quality evolution of products as a function of the climate conditions. The paper describes the development of a methodology to incorporate product knowledge directly in the climate controllers. A full-scale application to ventilated potato storage facilities is extensively discussed. Another example concerns a simulation study with respect to reefer container transport.
