Properties and cycle performance of refrigerant blends operating near and above the refrigerant critical point. Task 2. Air conditioner system study. Final report.

Author(s) : DOMANSKI P. A., PAYNE W. V.

Type of monograph: Report

Summary

The main goal of this study was to investigate performance of an R410A air conditioner relative to an R22 air conditioner, with specific interest in performance at high ambient temperatures at which the condenser of the R410A system may operate above the critical point. The study comprised experimental and modelling efforts. Extract from the table of contents: impact of elevated ambient temperatures on capacity and energy input to a vapour compression system: literature review; laboratory experiment (units selected for testing; experimental procedure and test conditions; test results: R22 and R410A systems, R410A oil sampling; comparison of performance of R22 and R410A systems); modelling (issues for finned-tube heat exchangers; evaporator, air-conditioner and condenser models).
