Proposed air cycle chiller/heat pump system.
Author(s) : BUTLER D. J. G.
Summary
A previous scoping study by BRE (Building Research Establishment Ltd.) and the University of Bristol's Food Refrigeration and Process Engineering Centre (FRPERC) showed that air cycle systems could provide cooling with heat recovery in buildings, and could show overall in-use energy and CO2 savings in certain specific types of building. The paper describes the results of a second study to develop a possible design for such an air cycle machine, and to predict its performance.
