Summary

The economical conditions in Russia that make the development of heat pumps possible are analyzed. The low price of organic fuel (natural gas in first place), compared with the price of electric power, explains the priority given to developing heat pumps utilizing thermal energy, above all for large capacities. The different types of heat pumps which have been developed and recommended in the country are presented. The large capacity compression heat pumps with an electric drive using water as coolant are examined. C.C.
