Protection of stratospheric ozone. Refrigerant recycling. Proposed rule.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposes regulations under section 608 of the Clean Air Act that would establish a recycling program for ozone depleting refrigerants recovered during the servicing and disposal of air conditioning or refrigeration equipment. These regulations should significantly reduce emissions of ozone-depleting refrigerants and therefore aid US and global efforts to minimize damage to the ozone layer.
