Pulse tube refrigerator with displacer for near room temperature operation.

Number: pap. n. 129

Author(s) : ZHU S. W.

Summary

In general case, a pulse tube refrigerator is not suitable for near room temperature operation because no expansion work is recovered. The pulse tube refrigerator with a warm displacer at room temperature can recover expansion work to let the application near room temperature become possible, which is discussed with a numerical simulation model in this paper. The balance distance between the piston head and cylinder head for the linear motor can let the linear motor work at resonant point. There is an optimum voltage for getting high efficiency with a given refrigeration temperature. The results show that it is a potential new type refrigerator for near room temperature operation.
