Summary

A RANDOM PORE MODEL FOR SIMULATING THE FREEZE-DRYING OPERATION ON FROZEN SOLUTIONS UNDER THERMAL CONTROL IS PRESENTED. HEAT TRANSFER EQUATIONS ARE SOLVED WITH UNIDIRECTIONAL FLOW CONDITIONS, USING A FINITE-DIFFERENCE TYPE SCHEME. THE TEMPERATURE PROFILE EVOLUTION OBTAINED IS MORE SIMILAR THAN THAT OF OTHER PLANE FRONT MODELS TO EXPERIMENTAL RESULTS. FREEZE-DRYING TIMES DEPEND ON INITIAL MASS DISTRIBUTION.
