Rational designs for suction pipes to liquid refrigerant pumps.

Author(s) : PEARSON S. F.

Summary

The reintroduction of carbon dioxide as an industrial refrigerant has drawn attention to shortcomings in traditional methods of designing pump suction pipes. Carbon dioxide has unusual properties in respect of pressure, vapour density, static head, viscosity and surface tension. A design method which takes into account these factors is proposed.
