Summary

SEVERAL TOPICS IN THE FIELD OF CRYOGENIC ENGINEERING ARE DESCRIBED. THOSE ARE A CRYOPUMP AND A SMALL REFRIGERATOR, SQUID AND ITS APPLICATION, LARGE SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNETS SUCH AS A MAGNET FOR NUCLEAR FUSION, A MAGNET FOR NMR-CT, AND MAGNETIC REFRIGERATORS. A REFRIGERATOR FOR CRYOPUMPING IS APPLIED FOR THE FABRICATION OF LSI. IN THE SECTION OF SQUID, THE OPERATING PRINCIPLE AND ITS ELECTRONICS ARE DESCRIBED. THE SPLIT STIRLING CYCLE EQUIPMENT FOR SQUID REFRIGERATION AND THE TWIN PISTON SINGLE STAGE REFRIGERATOR TO ATTAIN LOWER THAN 4.5 K FROM THE LOWEST TEMPERATURE OF THE SPLIT STIRLING MACHINE ARE STATED. AS FOR THE LARGE SUPERCONDUCTING MAGNET, ONE OF THE LCT COILS, WHICH WAS MADE IN JAERI FOR FUSION RESEARCH AND THE STRAND CABLE WITH COPPER STABILIZER AND NMR-CT MAGNETS WHICH ARE RECENTLY MANUFACTURED IN JAPAN ARE STATED.
