Summary

Reports from the USA show that the expected demand for CFC recovery units has not materialised. It is suggested that many contractors have bought too few units or only low capacity, inexpensive units to cover the minimum requirements laid down by the EPA. Unit manufacturers claim that the EPA has been ambiguous in its publications and has failed to bring cases against contractors not properly equipped. It also appears that building owners are not fully aware of the legal position with regard to handling CFC refrigerants. D.W.H.
