THE ISO/DIS 8302 STANDARD IS INTENDED FOR THE USERS AND DESIGNERS OF GUARDED HOT PLATE UNITS. FOLLOWING A FAIRLY DETAILED ANALYSIS OF THE PROBLEM, THE STANDARD GIVES THE RULES TO BE COMPLIED WITH FOR THE SET DOWN DESIGN AND REALIZATION AND THE TEST PROCEDURE TO FOLLOW. AN EXAMPLE ILLUSTRATES HOW THIS STANDARD SHOULD BE USED FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF A NEW UNIT. THE AUTHORS' AIM WAS TO STUDY THE POSSIBILITY OF MANUFACTURING A REFERENCE UNIT OF HIGH METROLOGICAL QUALITY AT RELATIVELY LOW COST.
