Summary

The paper reports on further studies of the effect of lubricants in perturbing the thermodynamic properties and cycle performance of commercially available HFC refrigerant blends. The effects of the ISO VG 32 polyolester EMKARATE RL 32S on azeotropic, near-azeotropic and zeotropic blends, both binary anf ternary, comprising R32, R143a, R125 and R134a are presented. A thermodynamic model was developed. Under most normal system operating conditions, the effects of oil are expected to be small but may become significant for those points in the cycle operating close to the dew point line of the oil-free refrigerant.
