Summary

This report is Part 1 of a two-tier international state-of-the-art assessment. It covers the countries Australia, Canada, France, Japan, the Netherlands, and the USA, being countries with a well-defined programme on refrigerant recovery and recycling. Information and relevant experience from other sources such as UNEP and the IIR has been included to supplement the assessment. The results of the assessment served as a background document for an international workshop/round table during the IIR conference "Refrigerant management and destruction technologies of CFC", in Dubrovnik, Croatia, August 2001 (see this Bulletin, reference 2003 - 2078).
