
Summary
AN EXPRESSION OF THE OPTIMUM SIZE OF VAPOUR LINES IS PRESENTED, SHOWING THAT PIPE LENGTH IS NOT A DETERMINANT FACTOR IN THE SELECTION OF PIPE DIAMETER. WITH AMMONIA, USING SUITABLE FACTORS FOR THE COST OF INSTALLED PIPE AND THE COST OF FLUID FRICTION, THE CALCULATIONS SEEM TO SHOW THAT A PRESSURE DROP IS EQUAL TO A CHANGE OF 1 K IN SATURATION TEMPERATURE FOR 1,300 DIAMETERS.
