Summary

The aims of this article are twofold: to elaborate a table of currently-available refrigerants including conditions for use, and to instigate discussion on the problems encountered by the refrigeration industry in terms of the large number of potential solutions and the uncertainty of a future ban on some refrigerants. The article reviews current European regulations and pays particular attention to CO2, ammonia and hydrocarbons.
