Summary

This book is aimed for engineers and technicians who wish to design a refrigerating plant. After a short reminder of the thermodynamics of the compression cycle and of how to present it in a diagram, the author provides a thorough presentation of plant design and calculations. The book covers the following topics: calculating the refrigerating balance; selecting the evaporators; selecting the compressor, calculating the pressure drop in the suction line; selecting the condenser and related components. Four examples are presented in detail. Finally, the author provides the numerical data and ratios required to assess the cost of the plant.
