THE AMMONIA STORE IN ROSTOCK-PEEZ IS THE PRESENTLY, LARGEST TANK PLANT FOR REFRIGERATION-LIQUEFIED AMMONIA IN THE GDR. A REPORT IS GIVEN ON SOME MAJOR ASPECTS OF THE DESIGN AND OPERATION OF THIS PLANT AS SEEN FROM THE PROCESS OWNER. THE UNUSUALLY HIGH STORAGE AND TURNOVER CAPACITIES HAVE CALLED FOR SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS OVER SAFETY ENGINEERING AND THE RATIONAL INCLUSION OF THE REFRIGERATING PLANT THAT ALSO FULFILS AN IMPORTANT SAFETY FUNCTION IN THIS STORAGE SYSTEM.
