Refrigeration for block ice plants.

Type of article: Article
Summary
Block ice is one of the most commonly used forms of ice. Its popularity has many reasons. Its form allows easy handling. It can be transported for long distances without refrigerated vehicles. In most cases, separate ice-storage space is not necessary because ice cans containing block ice can be kept immersed in brine for long in the ice plant, till it is required to be transported for use. In addition to sea-food cooling, it is used for direct consumption because of the improvements made in recent years in maintaining hygiene conditions during its manufacturing.
