Summary

LISTS THE FUNCTIONS WHICH REFRIGERATION OILS MUST FULFILL AND DESCRIBES THE CONDITIONS IN WHICH THEY HAVE TO OPERATE. LISTS COMMERCIALLY AVAILABLE OILS AND DESCRIBES THEIR CHARACTERISTICS. DESCRIBES INVESTIGATIONS INTO THEIR THERMAL STABILITY. CONCLUDES THAT IMPROVED PERFORMANCE CAN BE ACHIEVED WITH SYNTHETIC OILS IN SPECIFIC APPLICATIONS IF THEIR CHARACTERISTICS ARE TAKEN PROPERLY INTO ACCOUNT.
