Summary
Conventional and chilled aeration of rice and maize were studied for conditions in Texas, USA, using the simulation model AERATE. Continuous aeration performed best since it results in the smallest moisture losses and moisture gradients in the rice and maize silos. Chilled aeration can prevent moisture losses and maintain average grain temperature at 15 deg C below that of conventionally aerated rice and maize during the summer months.
