Summary

THE OBJECT OF THE PAPER IS TO OBTAIN SOME CHARACTERISTICS OF THE RELIABILITY OF REFRIGERATED CONTAINERS ON A CONTAINER SHIP. THE AUTHORS ANALYSE THE FIELD DATA WHICH HAVE BEEN GATHERED, FROM THE FAILURE REPORTS OF REFRIGERATED CONTAINERS ON BOARD OVER A PERIOD OF 10 YEARS, AND THEN INVESTIGATE THE CHARACTERISTICS OF RELIABILITY AND MAINTAINABILITY, USING THE FIELD DATA. IT IS SHOWN THAT THESE RESULTS ARE VERY USEFUL IN THE FIELD OF MAINTENANCE AND MANAGEMENT OF THE REFRIGERATED CONTAINER.
