Retail stores say venting not major reason for CFC losses.
Author(s) : SKAER M.
Type of article: Article
Summary
The article presents the conclusions from a research study of refrigerant use and emissions from retail food stores. The study concluded that: measured fugitive emissions are small (an average of less than 1 wt% of charge per year), so that most of the 26 wt% charge loss is believed to result from sudden loss of containment (i.e. component failures); more than one-half of the fugitive emissions are attributable to screwed fitting connections; and parallel systems leak more than single systems.
