THE YOGURT MARKET EXPANDED BY 4% DURING 1983 AND WAS EXPECTED TO DOUBLE IN 1984. THE MAIN EMPHASIS WAS ON FRUIT YOGURTS WITH NATURAL YOGURTS BEING INCREASINGLY USED IN COOKING. CREAM SALES INCREASED BY 7.5% AND A SIMILAR FIGURE WAS PREDICTED FOR 1984, WITH UHT CREAM TAKING AN INCREASING SHARE OF THE MARKET. COTTAGE CHEESE HAS EXPANDED BY 8% WITH SIMILAR INCREASES FOR PREPACKED SALADS. DESSERTS GREW BY 15% DURING THE PERIOD AND THIS TREND IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE WITH THE INTRODUCTION OF THE MULTI PACK.
