Summary

ALTHOUGH VARIOUS EFFORTS ARE BEING MADE FOR MORE FOOD PRODUCTION, SUFFICIENT ATTENTION, UNFORTUNATELY, IS NOT BEING GIVEN TO FOOD PRESERVATION, AND PREVENTION OF WASTAGE WHICH IS OF THE ORDER OF 30/40 PERCENT, MAINLY PERHAPS DUE TO THE EXTRA APPARENT EXPENDITURE INVOLVED. BUT THIS MIGHT BE A SHORT SIGHTED POLICY AND SINCERE EFFORT AT ALL LEVELS SHOULD BE MADE FOR EFFICIENT FOOD CONSERVATION. FOOD PRESERVATION METHODS AND SYSTEMS SHOULD BE CHOSEN AFTER CAREFUL OPTIMISATION BETWEEN THE ENERGY REQUIREMENT AND THE KEEPING QUALITIES OF FOOD SUCH AS NUTRITIONAL VALUE AND SENSORY PROPERTIES.
