Summary

The main dangers in the storage and utilization of these gases are leakage at the liquid and/or gaseous states, and incomplete combustion. The main resultant risks are fires, explosions, poisoning, cold burns and asphyxia. This booklet reviews the properties of these gases and the risks in plants. It then details the measures applying to design, equipment and implementation of this type of plant, the rules to be observed during operation and maintenance, and the measures to be taken in case of gas leakage with or without fire.
