STUDIES HAVE BEEN MADE IN POLAND OF THE USE OF AMMONIA-WATER ABSORPTION SYSTEMS FOR INDUSTRIAL COOLING APPLICATIONS. THESE WERE APPLIED TO CHEMICAL PLANTS WHERE WASTE HEAT SOURCES WERE AVAILABLE. IT WAS FOUND THAT, EVEN TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE INCREASED CAPITAL COSTS OF ABSORPTION PLANT, CONSIDERABLE ECONOMIES COULD BE ACHIEVED COMPARED WITH COMPRESSION SYSTEMS. D.W.H.
