WATER-AMMONIA ABSORPTION HEAT PUMPS HAVE BEEN USED IN RUMANIA FOR A FEW YEARS FOR HEAT RECOVERY, HEATING AND THE PRODUCTION OF DOMESTIC HOT WATER. THE AUTHOR PRESENTS SOME TECHNICAL AND OPERATING ASPECTS OF HEAT PUMPS WORKING EITHER AS RESORPTION OR AS A MIXED ABSORPTION-MECHANICAL COMPRESSION SYSTEM. THE THERMAL CAPACITY OF THESE HEAT PUMPS RANGES BETWEEN 250 AND 7,000 KILOWATT.
