Screening of single component fluids for compression heat pump applications.

Summary

More than 80 possible pure component substitutes have been evaluated in a systematic screening in order to find alternatives to CFC-12, CFC-11 and CFC-114. The results of the study are summarized. The calculations have been carried out by simulation package K-BP2 using cubic equations of state, whose applicability has been verified against literature data. The COP, pressure ratio and volumetric capacity for natural fluids are compared with HFC, HFE and HCFC fluids. In many cases, HC working fluids outperform most other candidates.
