Sedimentation of microorganisms in laminar and turbulent flows.
Sedimentation von Mikroorganismen in laminarer und turbulenter Strömung.
Author(s) : SCHEER F. A., FITZNER K.
Summary
Not just the spread, but also the sedimentation of micro-organisms depends on the degree of turbulence. Twice the amount of microorganism sediment is observed when the degree of turbulence is raised from 1 to 20%. To take this into account, a sedimentation grade parameter is proposed that reflects the influence of flows on sedimentation rate.
