Summary

Calorimetric tests of a semi-hermetic compressor with R290 (propane) are described and compared with R22 and R404A for the air-conditioning range, the cooling range and the freezing range. Besides the influence of the condensing temperature, the super heating of the suction gas is considered as a criterion for evaluation. The specific requirements for the selection of lubricants and the measures to minimize the high solubility of propane in oil are discussed.
