Summary

A comparison between different fluorocarbon refrigerants and organic absorbents as working fluids in single- and double-stage absorption heat pumps was undertaken. The refrigerants included R22, R134a, R124 and R32, and various organic compounds such as dimethylacetamide, dimethylether tetraethyleneglycol, N-methyl-2-pyrrolidone and N-methyl epsilon-caprolactam consituted the absorbents. The working conditions, similar for all cycles are given. Performance characteristics of the working fluids in both single and double stage cycles in terms of COP and circulation ratio, heat transfer in the main components, refrigerant and solution mass flow rates and water flow rates were calculated and compared. Results are given.
