Working fluids for absorption heat pumps based on R125 (pentafluoroethane) and organic absorbents.

Author(s) : JELINEK M., BORDE I.

Summary

The possibility of using R125 and organic absorbents is being investigated in the authors' laboratory. Various classes of commercially available organic compounds were tested. Experiments were performed with a combination of R125 and DMETEG. This pair was compared with other refrigerants paired with the same absorbent. The COP and the circulation ratio were calculated with the aid of a computerized simulation program for a single-stage absorption cycle with and without a refrigerant heat exchanger HR under different temperature conditions. COP and circulation ratio were measured, with and without refrigerant heat exchanger. As can be seen from the results, R125 may be used in absorption cycles as an alternative refrigerant for R22 as well as for R124 and R134a.
