Small air ions and indoor air quality.

Author(s) : MARTINAC I.

Summary

A series of experiments was performed in a test room which was alternately ventilated in supply/exhaust and exhaust modes. It was found that mechanical ventilation had a significant effect on small-ion levels, mainly by affecting the concentrations of aerosol particles. Ventilation generally increased particle levels and decreased the concentrations of small air ions in the test room, when particle concentrations in the supply air were higher than in the test room; the reverse was true when particle concentrations in the supply air were lower.
