Summary

THE PRINCIPLES APPLIED IN THE RETROFITTING OF A COOPERATIVE FRUIT AND VEGETABLE PACKING STATION IN THE REGION GARD-HERAULT (SOUTHERN FRANCE) ARE PRESENTED. THE OBJECTIVE WAS TO ADD TWO REFRIGERATED HALLS ON TO THE EXISTING COLD ROOMS: ONE FOR THE IN-GOING AND OUT-GOING AND THE EXHIBITION OF GOODS TO BE SOLD, THE OTHER FOR STORAGE AND TRANSIT. THE AUTHOR DESCRIBES THE OPERATION OF THE STATION, THE MAIN CHARACTERISTICS OF THE REFRIGERATING EQUIPMENT, CONCENTRATING ON THE METHODS APPLIED FOR MONITORING (REMOTE CONTROL), PERIODIC CONTROL AND MAINTENANCE (CONTRACTS WITH THE INSTALLERS).
