Summary

THE ARTICLE DISCUSSES SOME ASPECTS OF FABRICATION OF VARIOUS EQUIPMENTS OF SMALL OXYGEN PLANTS. SINCE THE EQUIPMENTS INVOLVED DEAL WITH AIR AT VERY HIGH PRESSURE OF FLUIDS AT 77 K IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT EXTREME PRECAUTIONS ARE TAKEN TO AVOID NOTCH BRITTLENESS AND FAILURE DUE TO BRITTLENESS AT CRYOGENIC TEMPERATURES. IN ADDITION, THE DIMENSIONAL ACCURACIES CALLED FOR IN AIR SEPARATION PLANTS AND THE EFFECTS OF IMPROPER DIMENSIONS ON THE PURITY AND OTHER PROCESS CONDITIONS ARE ALSO DISCUSSED. A BRIEF MENTION HAS BEEN MADE ABOUT THE INITIAL TROUBLES FACED IN COMMISSIONING DUETO IMPROPER FABRICATIONS AND EFFORTS BEING MADE TO IMPROVE THE SITUATION.
