SOME SPECIAL APPLICATIONS OF SQUIDS.

Author(s) : ODEHNAL M., KUZNIK J.

Summary

THE LATEST DEVELOPMENTS WITH DIRECT CURRENT SQUIDS AND ALTERNATING CURRENT SQUIDS ARE REVIEWED. DIRECT CURRENT SQUIDS REACH A SENSITIVITY IN ENERGY APPROXIMATING THE QUANTUM MECHANICS LIMIT. THEY ALSO ENABLE ONE TO INTEGRATE, ON A CHIP, THE CIRCUITS OF THESE GRADIOMETRES COUPLED WITH THESE STRUCTURES. SEVERAL VERY RECENT APPLICATIONS OF SQUIDS ARE PRESENTED: IN BIOMAGNETISM (THE BRAIN AND HEART MAGNETIC FIELD), IN GEOPHYSICS (DETECTING OF THE SCHUMANN RESONANCE), IN NUCLEAR MAGNETIC RESONANCE DETECTED BY SQUID (DETECTING OF THE PROHIBITED TRANSITIONS AT DOUBLE AND TREBLE LARMOR FREQUENCIES, AT LOW FIELDS AND AT THE TEMPERATURE OF 4.2 K).
