Sorption systems: the point of view of a gas utility.

Systèmes à sorption : le point de vue d'une compagnie gazière.

Author(s) : PICARD P.

Summary

The article describes the point of view of a gas utility concerning solid-sorption heat and refrigeration production systems. These systems are very timely, given the current regulations on refrigerants, but their technical features are also attractive (storage capability, for instance). Hence, gas companies are more and more interested in all sorption systems, which make it possible to diversify the utilization of natural gas, mainly in summer. After reviewing this context, the author presents the advantages of solid sorption, as well as the criteria in choosing an air-conditioning and refrigeration plant. The difficulties and prospects of the development of sorption systems are described.
