Type of article: Article
Summary
In liquid-metal heat pipes, a calculated amount of inert gas is filled as one of the safest means to start them from a frozen state. An arterial-type sodium heat pipe with a long transport section has been tested for startup performance in both vacuum and gas-filled modes.
